Freedom is not free…our right to expression is as much a part of us as every breath we take…. My art is my very own story.
Once a victim of domestic violence…freedom of expression was forbidden. But I learned some very valuable lessons. The human spirit is not crushed when it is defeated---it is crushed only if it surrenders and gives up all desire to survive.
It is the expression of freedom that guides me through the creative process.
I feel faces can hold the expressions of awe, joy and sorrow, with a touch of confusion added in. Faces can express whatever the moment holds. Having always been drawn to the spirit of Pre-Columbian works, fragments of ancient sculpture are visible in all I create.
