Drawn to photography through family in the business, I’ve been photographing for corporate, editorial, and advertising clients for over 25 years. My commercial work is shot exclusively with digital cameras. Though I still shoot film for personal work, I’ve temporarily closed my darkroom (it’s in storage), and have resorted to scanning film images for digital output.
I play with light, composition, timing, and whatever tools necessary to turn an often difficult process into an enjoyable one, while giving the element of chance full reign. One well placed light can make the mundane seem magical. A shake of the camera can make it sublime.
My work is a collaborative. Clients, subjects, and assistants work and play to make a compelling, offbeat story in a single shot, a collage, or multiple images. I simply direct and press the button.
With the help of the Filmmaking program at Montclair State University, I’m currently planning the addition of video and filmmaking to my tool kit.
