Description:

Tiffany Ludwig is an artist and media consultant. Her work considers the intersection of art, work, and social interaction. She works in a variety of media including video, installation, performance, and photography. In addition to her solo practice, she collaborates with artist Renee Piechocki as Two Girls Working.

Since 2001, Two Girls Working have produced Trappings, a national, multi-media, public art and performance project that explores the complicated landscape of power and its relationship to personal identity. The heart of the project is the question: what do you wear that makes you feel powerful? They have interviewed over 600 women at 76 interview sessions across the United States. Their website, www.twogirlsworking.com is a public archive of women who have participated in the project, exhibition images, and press. Their book, Trappings: Stories of Women, Power and Clothing was published in the fall of 2007 by Rutgers University Press.

In July 2006, they launched the national, traveling exhibition Trappings: Stories of Women, Power and Clothing at the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA). They have developed public installations of Trappings for the Nashville International Airport (Nashville, TN), the public bus system of Pittsburgh, PA, retail merchants in Casper, WY and banners for the downtown corridor and business district bus system in Albuquerque, NM. They have received funding through the National Endowment for the Arts, The Heinz Endowments, The Pittsburgh Foundation, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s Artists and Communities grant program, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the Sprout Fund’s Seed Award, and the New Mexico Humanities Council.
