Asana House, Montclair’s first organic juice bar yoga lounge opened its doors for business on Saturday, December 13, 2008. Asana House has a stylish and comfortable décor and serves organic coffee, a variety of teas, made to order juice combinations, wheat grass, smoothies, soup and healthy snacks. All the juice combinations and smoothies are made from natural ingredients with a home made base such as almond milk or fresh orange juice.
Founded by Deborah Williams and Charles Secallus, Asana House combines a juice bar and a space for yoga which seem to be a perfect combination. Yoga is one of the oldest forms of physical purification and juicing is one of the best ways to enhance the benefits of this experience for optimal health. The external body is a refection of our internal light. Yoga students can practice Ashtanga yoga with an early morning Mysore program, Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Led Ashtanga on Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Saturday mornings. Special events such as music, film, discussion as well as a boutique round out the experience.

Jazz House Kids
14 S. Park Street, 2nd floor
973-744-2273
www.jazzhousekids.org
Jazz House Kids’ mission is to introduce and build musical connections in the community through jazz, America’s premier art form. Faced with budget realities in this current volatile economic environment, so many schools, both public and private, have cut back funding for music education and preparatory programs. Studies show that early exposure to and instruction in music, will make children not only better students, but better communicators and ultimately better citizens. This is where Jazz House Kids helps fill in the gap. They continue to do incredible programs in the state’s schools, and the new Jazz House is another example of taking something that works a step further. They just received a coveted NJ State Council of the Arts grant – NJCA cut funding 25% so it’s a big deal JHK got one.
Jazz House Kids is REALLY excited to be moving into its new digs – both office space and performance space. This month, Jazz House Kids’ new Jazz House will open in downtown Montclair at 14 S. Park Street, 2nd floor (sharing space with Sharon Miller). Children and adults from Montclair and the surrounding communities will have access to top-of-the-line jazz instruction and music programming. The new Jazz House will offer group instruction, ensemble playing, beginner classes, an adult jazz band, as well as a children’s concert series and vocal classes. Students will have an opportunity to learn key skills such as improvisation, theory and composition.
